  1. Founded in 1642 by French colonists, Montreal
  2. officially surrendered to the British in 
  3. 1763.It is the 2nd largest French speaking
  4. city in the world.Montreal is a University
  5. city of note having four institutions of
  6. note- Universite de Montreal,Universite du
  7. Quebec a Montreal, McGill University and
  8. Concordia University. The World's Fair was
  9. held there in 1967 and in 1976 Montreal
  10. hosted the summer Olympic Games. The City's
  11. 350th anniversary was celebrated in 1992.

  13. Montreal's Underground City.
  14. Inaugurated during the sixties as an original
  15. response to Montreal's winter weather
  16. conditions,a 29 kilometer network of
  17. underground passageways was built.
  18. This underground city gives access to 1700
  19. boutiques,department stores, restaurants,
  20. cinemas,theatres and exhibition halls as
  21. well as major hotels, over 1600 housing units
  22. and 1000's of offices.In addition, there is
  23. always a Metro station close-by.
  24. The Underground City is still being expanded!
